Hi,
I've usually had a magnification selector in the lower task bar, above the clock but
it seems to have disappeared. It's the kind of magnification selector that one can
pick 20%-500% magnification or enter a magnification amount. I've looked on the
Internet to try and find some type of way to restore this. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Are you referring to the Windows Magnifier Tool?

Start > Programs > Accessories > Accessibility > Magnifier.

Thank you for your reply, ReviverSoft.

No. That's not what I had. What I had was always there just above the
digital time- to the extreme right
of the lower task bar, I didn't have to call it up. When I wanted to
magnify a picture, etc, I'd go to the magnifier and there'd be a box
that would say 20 % magnification. If I clicked on it it would increase
by degrees 50 %, 100% etc or I could customize it by entering an
amount I wanted the magnification to be, ie 140%.

I had a problem with my computer, a couple of trojans and when I
got my computer back on track I found the magnification thing was
gone.
