Hello there! I'm exhausted. I have been up all evening desperately trying to get rid of this nasty rootkit I picked up. It sounds similar to a post Barcode made earlier this week. I couldn't start any malware removal programs, so a friend suggested I install and rename MalwareBytes. Relieved that I was on track to solving the problem, Malwarebytes could only detect and "remove" until reboot. Everytime it reboots after a removal, it still detects it after another scan. I read some forums suggesting a CD boot, but I can't find the windows disc's to make one.

I didn't want to upgrade from windows xp until I purchased a new computer, but I can't find the recovery disc's to reformat other wise. I also don't want to reformat period! Please help!
