I have a new Asus eeePC netbook with wireless internet connection. Running Windows XP. I had Avast free version installed previously which was useless at cleaning my system so I deleted it and installed Norton Internet Security which is running constantly and finding numerous problems, most of which are either attacks from remote computers or virus/trojan activity. I also have MBAM installed which is constantly finding new and previously deleted trojans.
I also have SpyBotS&D and SuperAntiSpyware installed and each finds its own certain and similar results. Funny thing is when I rescan immediately after a scan has finished, sometimes the program will find another (missed) infection.
Just this morning I have had lots of new problems with both IE and Safari redirecting my search results to random web pages and Norton constantly detecting virus/trojan and internet attacks to my PC.
One such example =
Risk name: HTTPS Tidserv C and C Domain Request
Source address: a57990057.cn (signature of a known attacker)
Application path: \DEVICE\HARDDISKVOLUME1\Windows\SYSTEM32\SVCHOST.EXE
MBAM shows up numerous old and new infections daily. Example...
Registry Values Infected:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\ygua8e7yhuiesfha876yfauy8fe (Trojan.Downloader) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.Files Infected:
C:\Documents and Settings\David\Local Settings\Temp\mdm.exe (Trojan.Downloader) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.
C:\Documents and Settings\David\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\4LVBE622\hohhveswgc.htm (Trojan.Dropper) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.
Registry Keys Infected:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\VB and VBA Program Settings\tm (Trojan.Downloader) -> Quarantined and deleted successfully.
I also had the InternetSecurity2010 infection a few days back which I think has been dealt with by MBAM and Norton but Im still seeing new infections daily.
It has gotten to the stage now that I'm afraid to use this PC as it seems chock full of infections!
Im worried that my machine is now so unsecure that it is useless and will have to be trashed.
Can anyone help me?
Thanks so much in advance!
