Win32:Rootkit.Gen(Rtk)

I have this virus for the second time now. It infected my svchost.exe file. What i did before to cure it was to reformat the PC. But now, I don't want to! Please help me.

It is not clear to me why you think you have a root kit, but if that is indeed the case, then the prudent course of action would be to completely wipe and reformat your system. While there are some applications that can remove some rootkit variants, the simple fact is that it is relatively trivial to alter a rootkit so that they are not removable. The nature of rootkits is that they can evade detection, and as soon as an application is made to detect and remove it, the app can be altered so that the removal app can not remove it.

avast showed up. it said, "a malware was found!" "Win32: Rootkit: Gen(Rtk)
But it shhowed the location, and it was on the previous system. It was on the windows.old.000. folder. so, i deleted it. is that enough?
