im stuck and dont know what to do. i recently got infected with some windows security center virus. and i have scanned and deleted files with malwarebytes and super antispyware. but still have the tray icon pop up on every startup. and when i search in google it sends me to bogus links. After everything i tried didnt work i tried doing a system restore. but after the restore i was still left with the icon in the system tray , the bogus sites via search engines and now my progs like Acer Empowering technology and almost anything else i had installed before the virus crash and dont work at all... just wondering how i should handle this. is there a way i can get a vista boot disk?? i have a legit serial . just not sure how this works. i wasnt given any boot disks or anything like that
thanks in advance

Hello & welcome to the BC

There is a way to make your own repair discs. if you have a capable pc & internet connection. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vis...-dont-have-one/

Here is a good tutorial on how to use them. (once you make them) http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/repair-windows-with-windows-startup-repair/

There is also a way to return to factory settings. but you will lose all data & installed programs so backup any files you want to keep. http://www.techsupportforum.com/hardware-s...structions.html

good luck!!

You can however try to re-install the acer Launch pad and see if that fixes the problem:

Also you should try to install the E-Recovery programs for the laptop and make a recovery DVD:
