Hiya,

I have been recently been experiencing problems with one of my PCs (XP), which I have traced to when I downloaded the latest java update, java 6 update 17. Immediately after that, my computer started locking up irreperably every time I so much as pointed it in the general direction of a java/flash app. I initially thought I had a compatibility issue, so uninstalled every thing I thought would have been affected by a java update and tried again to no avail.

At this point, I ran Ad-aware and spybot, which both came up blank, and then Malwarebytes, which is also coming up blank every time I run it. The intriguing thing is, Mcafee is occasionally throwing up instances of Riern, which it is deleting, but I am guessing is covering its tracks somehow. If it is Riern causing the problem, then how can I either get Malwarebytes to recognise it, or what other options are available to me?

Thanks in advance.

P.s. All anti-virus software is updated as of 21/12/09.
