Hi,
I have just reformatted my hard drive on my laptop & inserted my windows Xp home disc in to re-install windows xp. Now it goes through to the stage "Windows licensing agreement" it gives me 3 options, F8 I agree, ESC I don't agree & Page up/down, i pressed F8 & nothing happens just stays there, however i can press the other selections & they work!
I don't have a Boot disc on cd, & the laptop doesn't have a floppy drive.
Any suggestions how to re-install my Xp on my laptop please will be much appreciated.
Thanks

You don't need a bootable floppy...the XP CD is a bootable CD.

I don't really see anything on your situation...

Manufacturer and model of laptop?

It won't allow me to press F8 to accept the agreement! When press F8 to accept it just stands there as if it is waiting for me to press it! Tried 3 different xp discs all the same!

Don't know...at the Sony site, they say that's a European system.

You have a valid Microsft Genuine XP CD?

I really don't know of anything that would make the "accept license" option not work...maybe others here do.

Try plugging in a USB keyboard and running the install.

When you get to the F8 prompt, use the F8 on the USB keyboard. If it works, you may have something stuck under you F8 key on your laptop keyboard.

A can of air is usually good at dislodging gunk from under the keys on a laptop. If you get nothing out from underneath the keyboard, it could be time for a replacement keyboard.

Hope this helps,
