For about the last three weeks when I enter a website and try to pull up a sub topic... or enter
information in a drop down box, I get an icon (looks like a page) along the bottom of the screen
in the border. When I left click it tells me that the site in blocked.
I checked pop-up blocker and its off. I can't get rid of this icon and I can't access sites... for example
a real estate website with drop down boxes to select # of bedrooms or baths... the blocker comes on
and I can't go any further.
What happened three weeks ago that caused this?
I also have "inprivate browsing" and several other "in private" choices under tools, but can't get rid of them
either.
HELP.... I need "computers for dummies"!!!

Can you post a screenshot (snapshot) of a page with this icon?

Attached File  toolbar.bmp   335.55KB   17 downloads Try this...

I never had the "in-private" things on there before. As I said I allowed Pop-ups, but that didn't work.

I will try the page screen shot if you can see this...

Did you, by chance, recently update to Windows Explorer 8? It seems to be a part of it from this.

IMO. Them asking for your SS # is a bit strange. If they have a Help Desk you can contact by phone I would to verify they are changing their log in procedure and that your SS is required.

Can you tell us if you have installed Internet Explorer 8 during the past few weeks as an Update? Sometimes M$oft does sneak it past you on Automatic Updates. If that has happened try uninstalling Internet Explorer 8 and Installing Internet Explorer 7, then Post back if it fixes it or if it doesn't.

Just a thought, you could add the list of sites you use often, to the list of IE Approved sites.

Internet Options > Content > Enable Content Advisor > Approved Sites > Enter the website URLs.

Have not installed IE 8 yet... wanted to clear up this problem before adding to it!

I did add some of my usual websites to the list, but this would be a never ending battle.
It seems to happen with every website I enter... A friend sent me a card and when I
went into the site to open it I got the icon and could not go any further...

I also tried recovering from a past date - that didn't work either.

Is there something, within my computer, that I can look at to see if something was set accidently???
Thanks,
