I have been over in the forum "Am I infected?" and we have tried to get my Windows Millenium systemed laptop to run SAS in safe mode, SAS Safe Scan, ESET, Win32diag.exe, DDS, RSIT, and Runscannerzip.exe.

None of them have been successful. Generally they download but will not run because of various "errors" such as "a device attached to the system is not functioning" or I need to "update", although I think I am updated.

My thread describes the processes I went through and the error messages. Thank you for making a link there.

Interestingly, I was able to download and run Avast! Antivirus today. It detected three infected files. One, called Win32:Malware.gen was in the Restore archives and was not contained or deleted.
JS:Obfuscated.T [Trj] and JS:FakeAV-B1[Trj] were contained in "the chest." Avast! says they are Trojan Horses. They were found in the temporary internet files.
Previously (weeks ago) Clamwin detected Trojan.Swizzor.gen in a logitech file. I deleted the file and then the "Swizzor" was found in the Restore file where permission was denied.

I was directed here by boopme and appreciate any suggestions.
