This thread was originally posted here: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/ind...p;#entry1539585

I am running Windows XP on my desktop computer and have recently (as of one day ago) encountered a problem where the majority of the links I click on any search engine will redirect me to a random site, regardless of whether I am using IE7 or Firefox (although I primarily use Firefox).

I have run MalwareBytes, Avira, SUPERAntiSpyware, ATF Cleaner, Smitfraud and Dr. Web CureIt and they have not been turning up much of anything, or at least what I'm looking for (some sort of Trojan). My AVG runs daily and, on three different occasions this week alone, has found the same two items and delivered the same message:
"C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\csrss.exe (628):\memory_00270000";"Trojan horse Vundo.JD";"Moved to Virus Vault"
"C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\csrss.exe (628)";"Trojan horse Vundo.JD";"Reboot is required to finish the action"
I have rebooted each time and the redirects have continued each time.

Attached below is my DDS report:

Hi,

Sorry for delayed response. Forums have been really busy. If you still need help with this do following, please.

Download DDS and save it to your desktop from here or here or here.
Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds.scr to run the tool.
  • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
    • DDS.txt
    • Attach.txt
  • Save both reports to your desktop. Post them back to your topic.
Download GMER here by clicking download exe -button and then saving it your desktop:
  • Double-click .exe that you downloaded
  • Click rootkit-tab and then scan.
  • Don't check
    Show All
    box while scanning in progress!

AVG is also continuing to find the same Trojan.Vundo on a nightly basis, despite removing it the day before each time. Firefox and other functions have now begun to hang and I am running my computer on Safe Mode w/ Networking for the time being.

Attached are my ComboFix and DDS logs. After running ComboFix, my Avira AntiVir displayed a notification on start-up again asking me to deny access to the atapi.sys.vir file.

Hi again,

LimeWire

Above listed ones are P2P file sharing programs. P2P downloads are nowadays one of those things that most likely bring infection into the system. My recommendation is to uninstall these (and other if present) P2P file sharing programs.

Uninstall either AVG or Antivir, please. It's recommended to have one antivirus program installed in one system only.
