Hi all:

Cheers from Vancouver, B.C.

I almost got hit by AntiVir System Pro again when browsing the cnnsi.com website. So I thought I'd look around and find out if I could protect myself against it. I was wondering if there are any up-to-date hosts files out there that I should be using to protect me from drive-by virus downloads?

Also, is there a recommended toolkit of programs that I should have pre-installed on my machine, that would make it easier to remove malware if I do get hit?

I am running XP SP3.

Thank you,

Vancouver, B.C.

Hello Ian and welcome to Bleeping Computer.

Please take the time, to browse the New User Orientation forum, to help familiarize yourself with how the board works.

Also, don't forget to check out the Tutorials.
There's a lot of very useful information, in there.

I would suggest posting your questions in our AntiVirus, Firewall and Privacy Products and Protection Methods forum
