I have an XP laptop reportedly infected with Win32.NetSky and Antivirus 2009. If I try to re-start in Safe Mode, I get a blue screen. I can not acess the internet or due a system restore. Perhaps its one of the malware variants? (Looking on several msg boards and on different sites, it seems as if there has been an influx of reported infections over the last four or five days of this same condition). Wish I could tell you where it came from (I suspect the 14yr old son got hit with a bogus "warning" msg and took the bait but ....)

Bottom line is that I wanted to use some of the scan/removal tools recommended on some of these forums for getting rid of this thing, but I can't seem to even get to a point to load them first. I can't get past logging on and I can't get to Safe Mode. I am accessing this site from my homr computer. Can you help?
Thanks so much

I can not access the internet

With your browser open, go to Internet Options>Connections>LAN Settings and uncheck the box - Use a Proxy Server if it is checked

Can you get online now?
Can you burn a CD on another computer or have a thumb drive?

why won't my laptop work?

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around
Do not send me PMs with problems that should be posted in the forums. Keep it in the forums, so everyone benefits
