I was directed here from this thread. I was infected with a vundo and I had some help cleaning it up. The virus is now gone and I appear to be completely clean. However, when I was infected, my sound went out and it hasn't returned. Videos don't play sound, iTunes doesn't play sound, there is no startup noise, etc. I've tried both speakers and headphones. The person who helped me doesn't think there is any more malware involved and he directed me here.

Hi .

First thing....try to run the XP Sound Troubleshooter.

You can find available under Start/Help & Support, using "sound troubleshooter".

That's odd. I just manually used Windows Update and it fixed it for some reason.

You can close this thread now.
