I am running a windows xp, on a HP computer. My computer locks up and the screen shows double images, but the doubled images are a red tint.

After this happens, I have to hold the off button on the tower to shut it down. I have tried doing a clean install, but it did not fix it.
My computer is virus free. My video is integrated into the computer(not a card)
A couple friends have suggested changing my video cable, but i haven't tried yet.
I am looking for answers or Ideas. Is any one familiar with this problem?

If you have done a clean install of your OS and the problem still exists then you are most likely facing a hardware issue. I would try a different monitor and if that doesn't resolve it then I would add a new video card.
