I have an HP notebook and the fingerprint reader has stopped working. Also, when the reader stops working my computer also stops recognizing my USB port. I am not sure if the two are mutually exclusive BUT they always stop working at the same time! This has happened two times before and to resolve the problem I just restarted my computer. This time I have restarted the laptop twice but both are still not working. I would greatly appreciate any advice! Thank you!!

I'd try to replace the driver for the fingerprint reader

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around

Yeah, reinstalling the 'Fingerprint reader' driver is your only option unless of course there is a hardware issue.
