Hi -- I'm hoping for some help in eliminating an apparent malware infection on my computer. The major symptoms:

1. Things started with the appearance of a program calling itself "Antimalware", putting up endless popups claiming infections on the computer. (Another family member was using the computer when things started, so I'm not sure what the initiating event was). I think I've gotten rid of the program, but:

2. Now, I repeatedly get multiple copies of iexplore.exe showing up in the processes when IE isn't (obviously) running. I can kill the processes, but they reappear shortly. I'll periodically hear commercials playing when IE isn't (obviously) running, and the IE history shows visits to tons of sites I'm not visiting.

3. I can't get most antivirus/antimalware software to run on the computer. When I try to start such programs, they typically appear as a process, but don't seem to run successfully. In particular, I haven't been able to get RootRepeal to run, so there's no log for that attached.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
