Hi,

I need help figuring out why my laptop decides to freeze, clouds up then turns black. This happens when I turn an internet browser on but sometimes it doesn't. Could this be a virus, worm, malware etc? I ran an AVG scan and showed multiple tracking cookies. I'm not sure though if they should be removed. I then ran a Hijackthis scan and got this log. Can someone help me figure this out please? Thank you in advance.

I ran an analysis of the log and everything came back safe. Have you tried logging in to safemode to see if you have the same problem? You may be looking at some sort of hardware issue.....

Hi,

Thanks for looking into this. Yes, I tried logging in to safe mode and still had the same issue. It happens about 4 times after a few minutes of opening my internet browser then it runs without issues. After about 6 hours, it happens again. It's been going on for 3 days now. It could be a hardware issue. It crashed a couple of weeks ago and I had to have it reformatted. I asked if my motherboard's fried but the guy that fixed it said no, everything's working properly. I'm a little paranoid cause my sister's facebook and yahoo accounts were hacked last month and I was wondering if it is at all possible that whoever hacked her accounts somehow managed to send her a virus or worm of some sort? My laptop always seems to have issues everytime my sister uses it.

Thanks

you may want to have a peek at your system logs. In Windows XP go to start --> control panel --> administrative tools (in classic view) OR performance and maintenance (category view) --> event viewer (in classic view) OR administrative tools --> event viewer (category view).

Once in the event viewer click on system and have a look at the log. See where the errors are and if possible try posting some of that here in your next response. To view the full error, double click on i and then copy and paste what you find here in your next post.
