Hardware/software: 2006 HP special edition laptop (DV1000 series), Windows XP

Problem1: At first it was slow start, then random freezing, now boots up in video play mode (inescapable) and has to be restarted to work. This may be a performance issue, but I want to check it against the mods in this forum to be safe.

Hijack Log:

Problem2: I have a bias against Norton and McAfee and like to use more user derived software (I hope you didn't groan internally at that, HijackThis was essentially one of these softwares when it was created by Merijn), however when the subscription expires I tend to get something newer (trendmicro pcillin in '06, SpySweeper in '07, Registry Mechanic in late '08, PCDoctor from PC Tools currently) and may not have completely uninstalled the old ones - so again, this could be a performance issue, however I installed aim6 a few months ago and have noticed popups and random freezing since then.

I do design, so you'll notice the log is heavy in things of that nature (architecture programs/adobe suite/java/etc). Simple direction is appreciated as I've got the interest but no CS education. Any advice on weeding out overlapping protection programs is also appreciated, and thanks for your time.
