I boot my PC,click an audio application, and get either "There is no soundcard installed" type message ,or "Soundcard cannot retrieve drivers" type message.I am having to repeatedly re-install my soundcard.
There is no obvious cause for this that I can think of.
It has been happening for about a week, maybe 3-4 re-installs of soundcard.

I have : Athlon XP 2800+ , SP2 , 160GB hard drive , 512MB DDR RAM , FX5900 graphics , SoundBlaster Extigy soundcard.

It has happened before but re-installing solved problem .This time , the soundcard keeps "disappearing".
Sometimes the card is there, sometimes not when I boot PC.

Possible clues -

My boot time is real quick, about 2 minutes.I am on "selective startup" with msconfig, but normal startup does not seem to make any difference.
I will post exact message should it re-occur.
