Just to get right down to it

I have a Dell Inspirion 1520 and ive had it since 07 well the warranty is out yes this is true ....ive looked online and I think my inverter is gone bad on computer.everytime I plug up my computer the laptop goes dim then back to bright when unplugged. and yes I have everything set to Never turn off all the way down on all settings. So I figure its like what Ive seen on some websites. Inverters bad too much trouble to replace. BTW it has a red small line that shows on the screen from top to bottom. How much longer will my monitor work?

It's really kind of difficult to give you a time frame on how long it will last.
Just suffice it to say, not as long as you want it to.
Does it do the same thing when you plug it into a regular monitor?
An inverter isn't that hard to change out.
Fortunately, Dell has excellent service manuals to help you

why won't my laptop work?

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around

OK so now you know it's definitely the screen and not the video chip

Around $10.00

Manual with instructions how to change it

Hint: go out and buy a good, quality #0 and #1 Phillips screwdriver. Do not skimp on this

See how it seats in the small screws
The last thing you want to do is strip the screw heads
