Hello everyone,

I have been trying to repair my computer for the past 3 days but the virus does not seem to go away. Here is the detailed description of it.

Symptoms:
1) Internet explorer/firefox redirects the links from one site to the other (i.e. if I click on a google link, it goes to some spam website)
2) Unable to login to the safe mode/system restore. It shows a blue screen showing some error for a split second and automatically reboots itself.

Methods tried:
Initailly, when my computer was attacked, I could not even login to my system. I deleted the last created .exe files in C:/Windows from Ubuntu (after confirming online that those files were viruses). Then thankfully, I was able to login to my computer. I used Malaware bytes, Super-antispyware, Norton-Anti virus and spy-bot to scan my computer and I cleaned more than 50 files which were infected with Trojan.Vundo virus. Unfortunately, I believe, the problem still persists. Now, all these anti-virus softwares show that my computer is free of infection, but still I could not login to safe mode or go to any website directly. After keeping my computer connect to internet for some time, the computer just crashed and I could not login again (Seems like it automatically dowloaded files from internet). I had to follow the same process of manually deleting infected files from Ubuntu to login to my computer. Also, NvCpl (RUNDLL32.EXE C:\WINDOWS\system32\NvCpl.dll) used to re-enable itself in the startup, even if I disable it from msconfig. Realizing that this is related to NVIDIA driver, I uninstalled it and deleted all the NVIDIA files and registry entries. But it looks like nothing seems to work. I will be very very grateful, if some one could help me with this.

Many thanks in advance,

Attached, both the files ark.txt and Attach.txt

Here is the DDS.txt file:

Hello! :(
My name is Sam and I will be helping you.

In order to see what's going on with your computer I will ask for you to post various logs from the tools that we will use to resolve your issue. Please also share with me any information about how your computer is reacting and behaving each step of the way as we work through this process.

We need to create an OTL Report
  • Please download OTL from here
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the icon on your desktop.
  • Click the "Scan All Users" checkbox.
  • Under the Custom Scan box paste this in

    netsvcs
    %SYSTEMDRIVE%\*.exe
    /md5start
    eventlog.dll
    scecli.dll
    netlogon.dll
    cngaudit.dll
    sceclt.dll
    ntelogon.dll
    logevent.dll
    iaStor.sys
    nvstor.sys
    atapi.sys
    IdeChnDr.sys
    viasraid.sys
    AGP440.sys
    vaxscsi.sys
    nvatabus.sys
    viamraid.sys
    nvata.sys
    nvgts.sys
    iastorv.sys
    ViPrt.sys
    eNetHook.dll
    ahcix86.sys
    KR10N.sys
    /md5stop
    %systemroot%\*. /mp /s
    CREATERESTOREPOINT

  • Click the "Quick Scan" button.
  • The scan should take just a few minutes.
  • Please copy and paste both logs back here in your next reply.

=============

The next log will show us any hidden files that are present.

Download GMER from here:
  • Unzip it to the desktop.
  • Open the program and click on the Rootkit tab.
  • Make sure all the boxes on the right of the screen are checked, EXCEPT for ‘Show All’.
  • Click on Scan.
  • When the scan has run click Copy and paste the results (if any) into this thread.

Hi Sam,

Thank you for your quick response to my post!

I was able to create OTL report but when I scanned using GMER with 500 GB passport drive attached, my computer rebooted itself, giving me the blue screen in 5 minutes. When I scanned GMER without the passport drive, it did not give any error for more than 2 hrs but when it was scanning C:\WINDOWS, the computer got stuck and I had to restart. I tried to run GMER again, this time even with the passport drive, the computer gave me a blue screen and rebooted itself in about a minute. Please let me know the way forward.

Thanks,

Here are the logs from OTL.
First two are OTL reports.

Please download ComboFix from one of these locations:

Link 2
Link 3

Important!
You should NOT use Combofix unless you have been instructed to do so by a Malware Removal Expert.
It is intended by its creator to be used under the guidance and supervision of an Malware Removal Expert, not for private use.
Using this tool incorrectly could lead to disastrous problems with your operating system such as preventing it from ever starting again.

Make sure that you save ComboFix.exe to your Desktop
  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools

  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.

  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.

  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.
**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please copy and paste the contents of C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

Hi Sam,

I scanned using Combofix, it completed all the stages, and rebooted. Just after it displayed creating log file, computer gave a blue screen and showed an error related to IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and said that it is creating memory dump. After that, it rebooted again. The windows said that the system was out of serious error. There is no combofix log file in C.

Also, I already have Windows Recovery Console. It gives the blue screen, if I try to start it.

Hi Sam,

Looks like I don't seem to face problems with redirecting to some other spam webpages or pop ups. I was also able to login to safe mode. However, I could not restore my computer to some other earlier state. Also, Windows Recovery Console, still gives the blue screen. Spybot is in paranoid mode, it asks for every entry changes in registry. When I start my computer, it continuously ask me for changes in the registry. Does this mean that I am still infected or virus free?

Thank you very much for all the help!

Combofix will normally make some changes to the registry if it finds and removes malware. When Spybot's Teatimer asks you about those changes, just allow them. Once you do that they shouldn't change again.

Why are trying to restore your computer to an earlier state at this point?

You may need to reinstall the recovery console. Follow the steps here.
