They work but in my experiance that is the best that can be said for them. Stick with ethernet if you are going with a wired connection.

For wireless - I recommend a complete uninstall of all things that have to do with the wireless - uninstall the wireless adapter in device manager and uninstall any programs for it in Add/Remove programs. Reboot and reinstall them. Some adapters you can just install the driver others you have to install the software because the driver is in it. If you can just install the drivers that would be best then use windows to make your connection.

For the wired, in device manager - uninstall the wired adapter and reboot. Click No to searching the net for a driver but leave it on the recommended setting for where to look. It should find the drivers and reinstall them.

USB adapters for what? Wired or wireless?
