Shuting down computer

My Operating system is Windows XP. When I am shutting down my computer, I receive a warning saying something like this.

Other people are logged on to your computer. Do you still want to shut down. They may lose data if you shut down.

What does this mean?

It's a part of fast user switching. This allows you to change users with out logging off. http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documen..._switching.mspx

Click Start, then Log Off, to see who else is still logged in.
