I'm in the market for my first laptop. Email, videos, movies, web surfing, pictures, studies. Just a 'all purpose' laptop. Want Windows 7.

I'm looking at an Acer, which seems to be the best bargain for the price. However, I know nothing about the brand.

The other thing I'm looking at are refurbished Dells:

(Anything over 15" & <$500)

Thoughts?

Hello. Check out this thread

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/274446/which-notebook-to-buy/

if you've any interest. It's about reliability and I found it interesting. As I've been searching for a new laptop the last ten or so days I've touched just about every brand made, and I've been much more impressed with Asuses(?) than with Acers per build quality, touchpad, and keyboard. Also, that Asus you linked seems like a super deal. All it's lacking that I can see is an HDMI port for connecting it to a digital TV. I travel a lot and have always had good luck with HP, both quality and service, so I'm probably going to get one of these in a few days

Of course, I may find something else between now and then B ) . Good luck.

why won't my laptop work?

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around
