Just curious regarding the following depictions,

The Net Framework service packs in add\remove and the SP3 listed in system properties are two totally different SP`s.

The SP`s you show listed in add\remove are for Net Framework only. The SP shown in system properties is for the OS as a whole.

When it changes from SP2 to SP3 as this most certain was an update, then were they updates listed in Add and Remove, under a title I am not getting or, . .

If they are in the systems files I have not seen any that are listed as SP3 Installation or SP3 update, etc.

Sorry I can`t help you with that answer. I run a slip streamed vers. of XP on my machines which already includes SP3.
I can not remember if SP3 should\does show up in add\remove. Seems I remember SP1, 1a & 2 showing.

OK, I just did not see it as distinguished by the previous version titles, I was sure it was there I just don't know exactly where to find it, . . for example, I have a sound problem, my system was rebuilt from a set of Compaq Restore disc, (SP1) and a Microsoft Upgrade disc SP2, the rest was pretty much updated, from MS Updates, . .
however MS technician informed me that I would need to uninstall SP2 to load in the driver software, then reinstall SP2, I haven't got around to that because I am searching for an easier way, . . but that isn't exactly uninstalling SP3, . . .

however, what would I do if I had to uninstall SP3 ?

Where would I find that ?

Hello Jove,

As far as I'm aware, If you installed SP3 through MS Updates, then it should show up in Add/Remove similar to the image below.

Hi Red Dawn,

Thats what I'm saying and is my confusion, as you can see in my previous post #1,
What you have is not present in my Add and Remove, I'm wondering if I have a completed D/L,
cause I have a couple of unsolved problems, 1. No sound, 2 No complete functioning Help and Support, . . this has been this way for a long time, but everything else in general seems to be working. I don't have an installation CD.

But thanks that puts all in a different light !

HI RedDawn,
I went there and searched '
c:\windows\$NtServicePackUninstall$\spuninst\spuninst.exe

A message box came up warning me when I uninstall SP3, . .

I guess it's there it just isn't showing up in Add and Remove for
some reason. Interesting, . .

Thanks much for your time and efforts.

RedDawn,

BTW, have you ever created a Bootable Floppy disk as the article you have chosen makes

reference to that ?

Hi Jove,

No, I've never had the need to. It sounds like method 2 in the article to uninstall SP3 will work for you though, the Bootable Floppy Disk may only be needed in certain circumstances when other methods have failed.
