Hello,

I'm running vista 64. When I'm logged on to the computer with my administrator account I experience no problems. However, when I log onto the computer with our general account I have a host of difficulties including error messages about infected files everytime I try to run something, random web pages loading themselves (viagra, a site with the name porn in it, etc). There have also been little pop up warnings from my task bar saying files are infected. The messages ask if I want to run my anti-virus software and then if I say yes "Antivirus System Pro" starts running and finding a bunch of viruses. I'm afraid of what this program is doing so I haven't let it continue to run. I use AVG free to scan for viruses (it is up to date). I have tried scanning with AVG from my administrator account and it finds nothing.

I have followed your instructions up to step 8 so far, except that RootRepeal does not run. It gives an error saying that it does not support 64-bit OSs! I ran the DDS and RootRepeal from the administrator account.
Windows firewall was already running. We have a wireless router which also has a firewall.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

John

  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.

Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.
