I was recently hit with this virus. After reading through this forum and researching the problem, I just went ahead and got a new hard drive, reinstalled my OS and recovered my data. So I am fine with that part. Pretty much everything is back up and running.

My problem is that I had a second hard drive installed that I just used for storage. There is no OS on it at all. It just contains pictures, video, and other documents. Before my previous system crashed, I was able to run a scan and saw that the "System Volume" (?) was infected. Some other *.exe files that I was also storing were listed as being infected, but I can delete those.

The 2nd hard drive is not installed in the computer. My question is can I reinstall this hard drive back in my computer, restart, and safely run an AV scan on this drive without reinfecting my existing system?

Given the nature of your question and because you aren't requesting assistance with malware removal per se or posting logs, I am moving this topic to the Am I Infected forum.
