Warm greetings brothers. I am Travis, and I am a Part-time Technician for my local state university, and also a student at said university.

We provide computer repair for our students (and only our students) for absolutely no charge, not even any hidden fees in their tuition. Bleeping Computer is an invaluable resource in helping us determine what stuff is bad, and what stuff is okay, with such a huge variety in machines. Especially now that CastleCops has been gone a while, Bleeping Computer has been able to take the reigns extremely well in maintaining a list of what is malicious and what is harmless.

That being said, I am an aspiring technician. I have been working on computers since the 8th or 9th grade, and have been skilled at it since the 11th grade. In Senior year of high school, I forced my way into the laptop project helpdesk, despite not being in the laptop project at all (which meant I wasn't supposed to be in the helpdesk, either) Nonetheless, I eventually was put in a small amount of authority over the other few younger consultants in that helpdesk, and went on to become a student consultant at my College's helpdesk as well. After two years of work I was promoted to a Temporary Part-Time position, which I am in now, as a dedicated technician for the student computer repair sector. I am an MCTS and will hopefully soon be a MCITP.

Very glad to be here!

Hello and welcome to Bleeping Computer.

Please take the time, to browse the New User Orientation forum, to help familiarize yourself with how the board works.

Also, don't forget to check out the Tutorials.
There's a lot of very useful information, in there.

Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around
Do not send me PMs with problems that should be posted in the forums. Keep it in the forums, so everyone benefits
