I got a compaq presario sr1053wm, good machine on my hands, but the dvd/cd writer drive stopped reading for some reason. I thought it was both drives but it seems to be that one now cause im running a cd in the other drive. so here is what ive done.

I ran anti virus scan software and spyware scan, with panda, avg 7, adaware, spybot snd, a lot of viruses and spyware but still no work.

I uninstall the drivers on Device Manager and rebooted, a couple of times, and even on safe mode sometimes.

The light on the drive is running, the device manger seems to be fine, looks like everything is just dandy.

And even on one ocassion one day in this week, i didnt do nothing special, i just woke up one day and it worked. who knows what happens but it worked. i heard some audio cds, and even put some dvds in to see if it worked. seemed fine, then i rebooted and all went back to not working. (or i may have rebooted twice and it stopped working the second time, not sure)

So if it worked i dont think its dirty or any hardware problem. Now im not sure if its just a coinsidence that the regular cd rom drive is working now or not, im not sure it worked before either. i think i just got lucky.

Im stumped, ive tryed everything for a 2 or 3 weeks now. If anyone can please help, have any suggestions i would really appreciate it, thanks

and here is my HJT logfile in case anyone asks

Hi TRDub

Sorry for the delay. Could you post a new log please since it has been a couple of days. I think some things may have changed since you posted this one.
