Internet wil not load

My Internet Explorer 8 will open and attempt to connect to my homepage (yahoo) but it just says connecting in the tab and will show about 2 or 3 loading bars in the bottom right corner of Explorer. So I tried to open up Mozilla and use that browser but it wont even open. Can some on please help?! P.s. all other applications are working fine. Thanks - Kristina
