I've tried googling, but cannot seem to find anything that makes sense, and I just need some help to try to understand what I am looking at and what I should be looking for. I am currently posting using SAFE mode and I find that the problem is not occuring in this mode.

Freezing has been intermittent, at times, and can happen whilst on MSN, firefox or trying to access Control panel. I find that I need to turn the computer off as it can hang for hours otherwise.

In the last 24 hours I had had:-

13 x Event ID 2 - Performance power management features on processor 0 are disabled due to a firmware problem. Check with the computer manufacturer for updated firmware.

1 x Event ID 5 - {Registry Hive Recovered} Registry hive (file): '\SystemRoot\System32\Config\RegBack\SOFTWARE' was corrupted and it has been recovered. Some data might have been lost.

1 x Event ID 9 - The device, \Device\Ide\iaStor0, did not respond within the timeout period.

2 x Event ID 55 - The file system structure on the disk is corrupt and unusable. Please run the chkdsk utility on the volume OS.

1 x Event ID 453 - Windows (2992) Windows: Database C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Search\Data\Applications\Windows\Windows.edb requires logfiles 31-68 in order to recover successfully. Recovery could only locate logfiles up to 63.

2 x Event 454 - Windows (2992) Windows: Database recovery/restore failed with unexpected error -543.

1 x Event 515 - Windows (3060) Windows: Database C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Search\Data\Applications\Windows\Windows.edb: Page 1787 (0x000006fb) failed verification due to a flush-order dependency mismatch. This page should have flushed before page 1786 (0x000006fa), but the latter page has instead flushed first. Recovery/restore will fail with error -255. If this condition persists then please restore the database from a previous backup. This problem is likely due to faulty hardware "losing" one or more flushes on one or both of these pages sometime in the past. Please contact your hardware vendor for further assistance diagnosing the problem.

2 x Event 3028 - The gatherer object cannot be initialized.

Context: Windows Application, SystemIndex Catalog

Details:
The content index metadata cannot be read. (0xc0041801)

4 x Event ID 3029 - The plug-in in <Search.TripoliIndexer> cannot be initialized.

Element not found. (0x80070490)

2 x 3058 - The application cannot be initialized.

hi,,, i dont know if its the same in the usa but here in England you get a 1 year warranty as standard,,, this is has to be honoured by the shop you got it from as you purchased from them,, if you got it direct from the maker then responsibility lies with them,,,, this product is what is known here in the UK as "unfit for use" and as such can be returned for a new pc or a full refund. Looks like you have a lemon, i would not wast any more of your time and return it to the vendor who you got it from ad let them sort it out,,,, i would make backups of all your stuff and also copy all events in event viewer to a folder and store it on a disc/flashdrive/external hdd,,, this will be your proof of the machine being faulty from the beginning,,
i hope this helps you,,,,

if for some reason you cant do this then i would do a system file check,,,,
sfc /scannow

if this does not help then try a startup repair
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/repair-windows-with-windows-startup-repair/
for both of these options you will need your recovery disc or borrow a friends disc if they have one,,,,
good luck
