I left a Message in the other Thread.

So your main drive is partitioned then? Just use Fdisk of a boot disk if you don't want 2 partitions. Make 1 partition then format that one from the boot disk. Install WinME again.

Save what you want from those Drives first, Mate.

It will all be gone otherwise.

Fdsk doesn't recognise any third Party Partitioners, to my knowledge?

One of the quirks of WIN98SE?

WIN98SE will install over a Third Party Partition, but fdsk is not the same. It just removes them, to my knowledge.

Well see , Windows 98 did this and then i formatted with Fdisk and then installed Windows ME.
But Windows ME still shows two drives , but Ubuntu/Norton Ghost does not see both drives just the one.
So its some hard disk error.
Maybe Ubuntu has some sort of disk check.

Maybe it is because WIN98SE and WinME are DOS Compatible, as fdsk is a DOS Application?

Maybe the other two are not and just can't see it, DOS?

You may need to reinstall Ubuntu? Nortons Ghost maybe looking for a Drive removed by fdsk and replaced by a DOS Extended Drive?

I think Ubuntu is fine. If i boot its live cd it still does not read one phantom drive.
It just reads the real drive :trumpet:

Fdisk doesn't format anything Format does.

So Fdisk only shows 1 partition?

After Fdisk starts after the large drive prompts just press 4 to see existing partitions. You are saying it shows 2.

Delete both partitions then setup a new Primary DOS partition which will be C:

Do a restart with the boot disk inserted then Format c:

If Ubuntu is not on the Phantom Drive and nothing else is, follow on with what Keithuk said and remove the Phantom Drive.

Ok that seemed to destroy Ubuntu even through i told it the right drive.
Strange , but i took the first drive out(Ubuntu) and Windows does not see a phantom drive.

Any way i going to download the new ubuntu 9.10 and install that , so i did not lose any thing important(live cd fixed all that).
Hopefully Ubuntu does not create a phantom drive(partition manager must have done some thing wrong).

Thanks for all the help.
