Am running a machine with Window XP Sp3. It has been getting very slow to boot but working fine otherwise. Today the desktop screen on boot up is blue but I have the start line and can log on to the internet. All programs are accessable from the start menue. I have updated and scanned for viruses with no luck. I suspect malware in the registry but do not have the skills to try to find/fix the problem. Would someone help me with combofix? I have thought about shutting down and restarting via last known good config. but suspect that I would not be really fixing the issue as I think there has been something going on for several weeks. I do have a Ghost image of the system on another drive made a few weeks ago if all elase fails.

Thanks - Norths

ComboFix is an extremely powerful tool which should only be used when instructed to do so by someone who has been properly trained. ComboFix is intended by its creator to be "used under the guidance and supervision of an expert", NOT for general public or personal use. Please read Combofix's Disclaimer. Using this tool incorrectly could lead to disastrous problems with your operating system such as preventing it from ever starting again.

Please create a new topic, in the Am I infected? What do I do? forum, explaining the nature of your problem. Describe pop-ups and system tray or desktop icons that have appeared. Explain what is "going wrong" with your computer. Note any tools you have used and their respective results.

If needed, we will direct you to our HJT Preparation Guide.
