Hi, I just want to say that I have been referred to hijack this forums for many years now, and always wished I could interpret the logs.
My main point here is of course to keep my own computer safe, but a much longer-term goal is to become an active contributer her for many years to come.
I have put off joining because I knew it would require the learning curve...and I'm ready to start now. I truly hope I find this forum to be likeminded and patient in the beginning. If I have anything to offer I will.

A few things: I can kinda install hardware.
I have to use Japanese OS (Windows XP at the moment) but most of my software is English versions.
I got a copy of trend antivirus free with this laptop, but I didn't understand it, so I tried Avira this time.
I teach online courses at a state U.
I am in favor of KISS for anything online. If I really have to produce, I'd prefer using an offline computer.

Am I in the right place?

Nice to meet you, and i look forward to a life of learning here.
