Recently I've noticed that upon bootup I have to wait approximately 3/4 minutes for me to be able to use any application .

It's a very tedious problem as before my PC was instantly responsive once windows had loaded.

Anyway, here is a H/T log that hopefully some general sole will find the solution from.

Many thanks in advance

Hello thistle2 and welcome to the BC malware forum. I do not see any virus or malware problems in this log. It is clean.

I would suggest doing a little standard house-cleaning.

Download CleanUp! and install it.

Start CleanUp! and do the following:
  • Click the Options button.
  • Make sure only the following are checked:
    • Empty Recycle Bins
    • Delete Cookies
    • Delete Prefetch files (XP only)
    • Scan local drives for temporary files
    • Cleanup! All Users
  • Click the Ok button to close the Opetions dialog.
  • Click the CleanUp! button to run the cleanup. It may take a while depending on the size of the hard drive so be patient.
  • When it has finished, close CleanUp!.
If that does not help then try completely uninstalling and removing all Symantec products and then re-installing fresh. There are occasions where these will develop a bad process that gets "stuck" and uses up all of the CPU resources.

Cheers.
