My computer freezes and crashes every 5 min-1 hour or so. Using OneNote seems to particularly cause it to crash, but it often happens when OneNote is closed as well. There is no error message or anything, it just freezes up; often the screen turns white. When I can get my Sophos scan to run all the way through (which is tough, because it usually crashes before it finishes), it finds some items, but won't let me access/deal with them, even when I "Run as Administrator." Then the computer will work OK for a day or so, and then it recurs.

When I ran RootRepeal, it seemed to work, but also gave me the following error message: Could not read system registry! Please contact the author.

Here is my DDS.txt log:

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.
