Hello and welcome to Bleeping Computer

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine.

If you have not done so, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

If you have already posted a DDS log, please do so again, as your situation may have changed.
Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

A rescan with spyware dr reports no reinfection, as I have done on all computers physically, individually disconnected from the network. Yet it comes back eventually on all ends. Seems to reside in Soapware on the SQL server. Attached File  mbam_log_2009_11_13__11_16_39_.txt   843bytes   4 downloads

Hi and welcome to the HijackThis Logs and Virus/Trojan/Spyware/Malware Removal forum,

I am Posted Image and I am here to help you!

I ask that you refrain from running tools other than those I suggest to you while I am cleaning up your computer. The reason for this is so I know what is going on with the machine at any time. Some programs can interfere with others and hamper the recovery process.

Please perform all steps in the order received and do not proceed if you need clarification.

Please copy and paste al logs into your post unless directed otherwise. Please do not re-run any programs I suggest. If you encounter problems please stop and tell me about it. When your computer is clean I will alert you of such. I will also provide you with detailed suggestions for prevention.

In the upper right hand corner of the topic you will see a button called Options. If you click on this in the drop-down menu you can choose Track this topic. By doing this and then choosing Immediate E-Mail notification and then clicking on Proceed you will be advised when we respond to your topic and facilitate the cleaning of your machine.

After 5 days if a topic is not replied to we assume it has been abandoned and it is closed.

I would also like to inform you that most of us here at Bleeping Computer offer our expert assistance out of the goodness of our hearts. Please be courteous and appreciative for the assistance provided!

Remote Control Program WARNING
You appear to have a Remote Control application installed. In your case, this is refering to LogMeIn.
Remote Control programs allow complete control of your machine as if you are sitting in front of it, even if you are in some distant location. While this can be a good thing, we need to make sure that this software was installed for a benign purpose, and not for a malicious one. If an attacker installed one of these programs, it would allow them to remotely control your computer, steal critical system information and download and execute files.

If you have this application installed on purpose, than you can safely ignore this warning but if you wish you may wish to uninstall it as it is a risk. If you didn't install this application, please remove (uninstall) it from Add or Remove Programs now.

I see you have run Combofix unsupervised.....this is ill advised!!

:( This is a complex and powerful tool that should not be used except under the supervision and direction of a malware expert. It can and will render your computer unbootable permanently!! Also realize that in most circumstances a single run of Combofix is ineffective. Specialized scripts will be written specifically directing this program to clean-up based on your logs!! :(

I would like to see your most recent CF logs. You will find them @ C:\ComboFix.txt

Your DDS log is incomplete. Do this instead.....

We need to create an OTL Report
  • Please download OTL from one of the following mirrors:
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the Posted Image icon on your desktop.
  • Click the "Scan All Users" checkbox.
  • Under "Extra Registry" please check "Use Safelist" and also check "LOP Check" and "Purity Check" as pictured.Posted Image
  • Push the Posted Image button.
  • Two reports will open, copy and paste them in a reply here:
    • OTListIt.txt <-- Will be opened
    • Extra.txt <-- Will be minimized

Please download GMER from one of the following locations and save it to your desktop:
  • Main Mirror
This version will download a randomly named file (Recommended)
  • Zipped Mirror
This version will download a zip file you will need to extract first. If you use this mirror, please extract the zip file to your desktop.
  • Disconnect from the Internet and close all running programs.
  • Temporarily disable any real-time active protection so your security programs will not conflict with gmer's driver.
  • Double-click on the randomly named GMER file (i.e. n7gmo46c.exe) and allow the gmer.sys driver to load if asked.
  • Note: If you downloaded the zipped version, extract the file to its own folder such as C:\gmer and then double-click on gmer.exe.

    Posted Image
  • GMER will open to the Rootkit/Malware tab and perform an automatic quick scan when first run. (do not use the computer while the scan is in progress)
  • If you receive a WARNING!!! about rootkit activity and are asked to fully scan your system...click NO.
  • Now click the Scan button. If you see a rootkit warning window, click OK.
  • When the scan is finished, click the Save... button to save the scan results to your Desktop. Save the file as gmer.log.
  • Click the Copy button and paste the results into your next reply.
  • Exit GMER and re-enable all active protection when done.
-- If you encounter any problems, try running GMER in Safe Mode.

Again I would like to remind you to make no further changes to your computer unless I direct you to do so. Your computer fix will be based on the current condition of your computer! Any changes might delay my ability to help you.

With your next post please provide:

* Did you remove LogMeIn? Was it installed purposely?
* Combofix.txt
* OTL.txt
* Extra.txt
* Gmer log

I should first start by saying thank you for your time and response.
I don't remember if I said this, but it is on all the comp's at my friends office. He is a doctor and uses SOAPware which is often accessed by the tech peeps via LOG me in. I will try and get their Monday and upload all and follow your directions.
One question, Could Spyware Dr finding this in the CF fix logs that I should have removed after accessing the CF logs. I mean remove Combofix itself?
Thanks again.

Your welcome. :(

Thanks for the clarification. You can leave LogMeIn as is then.

I will need for you to have unlimited access to your friends computer. Is that feasible?

I am not sure I understand your question in regards to Combofix. Please clarify your question.

Also. Can you please describe exactly what problems you are currently experiencing?

Spyware dr is the SW that picks up the bckdoor.rbot infection. Since it couldn't remove it in safe mode disconnected from the router, I ran combofix. then running Spyware dr it still finds it. I thought perhaps it found it in CF. The office is functioning now for a month since discovering the infection there arent too many problems except where they used to be able to log in automatically on SOAP they have to wait for it to reconfigure itself. I could grab the laptop and have full access from home but the others I wouldn't have full access to anytime..

Here is the deal.

We are walking a fine line here. I think that based on the info you provided it is time for me to bow out! I am happy to assist an individuals personal pc. An IT department should be responsible for an office setting involving multiple computers. In fact many offices have policies in this regard.

Please ask your Physician friend to contact their IT dept to address the office setting issues.

Kind regards,

Sorry I could not be more helpful.

Again your best bet is to have the IT Dept address the office situation. :(

Since this topic appears to be resolved, I will now close it.
If you need this topic re-opened please send me a PM.

Everyone else, please start a new topic.
