problems with programs

well.....
this is a problem which is starting to mess with my mind
There are a few programs which will not operate
Windows media player 9 --> opens fine, but when you try to open a song it stays on opening file for ever. It will not play any audiio/video
Flash MX- Freezes up on the opening screen everytime

I have ran Norton antivirus (unable to run a full scan, but scanned windows)
Ad aware
Spybot
Zonelabs spyware remover
They all seem to be fine.

I also have musicmatch, which opens any files fine
I can run programs like paintshop,
this is what has stung me !!?? why wont flash and mplayer work
appreciate any help
p.s - no windows media players work ive tryed all of em

I have seen others having problems with WMP9 & ZoneAlarm Pro, have to make some changes in the permissions of ZA.

Other then that I don't do much with WMP and can't offer much help.
