So I just finished the lengthy process of removing the vundo virus from my PC, with the help of bleepingcomputer.

I was wondering what the thoughts are on upgrading to windows 7?

If I attach/past a windows 7 upgrade report would somone be able to help guide me through the upgrade process?

I usually would do these things on my own, but I figure if someone helped me, it would lessen any complications that may arise.

Thanks!

That is what I was saying when I said "I can post a windows 7 upgrade report".
Guess that isn't done here.

Sorry. Mis-read your post.
As far as I know there would be no problem posting it here.

Basically what I am seeing is, yes. Your machine should run Win7.

How ever. It seems it will require a clean install. This mean also reinstalling all the programs you currently use. All data current data will need backed up. Some programs you now use may require XP mode which is only available in Win7 Pro and Ultimate. To run this properly they recommend boosting your RAM to 3 Gigs.

Most of your devices will work with Win7. See *

Aero eye candy will not run (well). You may be able to force it but it will cause a hit in performance. Many of the pre-installed Lenovo programs cause conflicts\problems. If you do not use them then this is not a problem.

*Last but not least they recommend you check the Lenovo site for your model and available Win7 compatible drivers\patches\upgrades.

You posted a lot of information and I realize I gave you a very short summary but it should give you an idea of what will need to be done and to expect should you make the jump.

I actually do not like any of the Lenovo programs. So this is not a problem.

What programs will require XP mode? Anything aside from the Lenovo products? I am not getting Win7 pro so hopefully there is no issue.

I already have all the files I want to save, saved. So I should be good to go?

When I am done, if you could help direct me to the right anti-virus ect. steps I should take for windows 7 that would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Looking over the list under Programs Status Details . With the exception of the Lenovo programs, all others seem to be fine.

One last suggestion prior to installing Win7 would be to visit the Lenovo Supports & downloads site. Enter in the requested info and grab the latest drivers. Burn them to a CD or put them on a flash drive for easy access and an overall easier install experience.
