Hello and welcome to Bleeping Computer

We apologize for the delay in responding to your request for help. Here at Bleeping Computer we get overwhelmed at times, and we are trying our best to keep up. Please note that your topic was not intentionally overlooked. Our mission is to help everyone in need, but sometimes it takes just a little longer to get to every request for help. No one is ignored here.

If you have since resolved the original problem you were having, we would appreciate you letting us know. If not please perform the following steps below so we can have a look at the current condition of your machine.

If you have not done so, include a clear description of the problems you're having, along with any steps you may have performed so far.

Upon completing the steps below another staff member will review and take the steps necessary with you to get your machine back in working order clean and free of malware.

If you have already posted a DDS log, please do so again, as your situation may have changed.
Use the 'Add Reply' and add the new log to this thread.

Thanks and again sorry for the delay.

We need to see some information about what is happening in your machine. Please perform the following scan:
  • Download DDS by sUBs from one of the following links. Save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on the DDS icon, allow it to run.
  • A small box will open, with an explaination about the tool. No input is needed, the scan is running.
  • Notepad will open with the results.
  • Follow the instructions that pop up for posting the results.
  • Close the program window, and delete the program from your desktop.
Please note: You may have to disable any script protection running if the scan fails to run. After downloading the tool, disconnect from the internet and disable all antivirus protection. Run the scan, enable your A/V and reconnect to the internet.

Also, please subscribe to this topic, so you are notified when someone replies. Please continue to check manually on occasion, as every now and then the email may be caught by your spam filter.
To enable topic notifications you should do the following:
  • Click on the My Controls link at the top of the page to enter your control panel.
  • Scroll down to the Options category in the left hand side menu bar and click on the Email Settings link.
  • Put a checkmark in the checkbox labeled Enable 'Email Notification' by default?.
  • Set the If ticked, choose default type: menu option to Immediate Email Notification to have an email sent immediately when someone replied.
Information on A/V control HERE

If I don't respond within 2 days, please feel free to PM me.
Please don't ask for help via PM. The forums are there for a reason. Please post in the forums so others may benefit as well.

Hi Lorie35,

Welcome to BleepingComputer HijackThis Logs and Malware Removal, :(
My name is sundavis, I will be helping you to deal with your Malware problems today.

Step1

Please download GMER Rootkit Scanner from Here or Here.
  • Extract the contents of the zipped file to desktop.
  • Double click GMER.exe. If asked to allow gmer.sys driver to load, please consent .
  • If it gives you a warning about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run scan...click on NO.
  • In the right panel, you will see several boxes that have been checked. Uncheck the following ...
    • Sections
    • IAT/EAT
    • Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive (typically C:\)
    • Show All (don't miss this one)
  • Then click the Scan button & wait for it to finish. For more info, go to Here for your reference.
  • Once done click on the [Save..] button, and in the File name area, type in "Gmer.txt" , and copy and paste the contents in your next reply.
**Caution**
Rootkit scans often produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<--- ROOKIT" entries

Step2

If you already have Combofix, please delete that copy and download it again as it's being updated regularly.

Please visit this webpage for download links, and instructions for running the tool:

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

Note: CombFix has recently been updated to include the option for installing the Recovery Console automatically. The Windows Recovery Console will allow you to boot up into a special recovery (repair) mode. This allows us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware. It is a simple procedure that will only take a few moments of your time.

1.Close/disable all antivirus and antimalware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

2.Click Yes to allow Combofix to continue scanning for malware.

When done, a log will be produced (or locate it in C:\ComboFix.txt). Please post that log in your next reply.

Do not mouse click on Combofix while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

Step3

I notice you have MBAM installed in your system, Please rerun it as instructed in the following. Update your virus definitions before proceeding. If you can't update the program, you can download the virus definitions from Here and install it manually.
  • Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.or you can find from here:
  • C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\mbam-log-date (time).txt
  • You can refer to this tutorial
Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

In your next reply, please post back:

1.Gmer log
2.ComboFix log
3.MBAM log Thanks.

Hi Lorie35,

It seemed that the system had double run CF. I need to see the other log. Go to Start > Run and copy/paste the following into the Run box and click OK:

Hello,
Well I tried to do the RUN thing and it reported that I didn't have the combofix2.txt that you asked for. I have the ATL cleaner on my computer already because another site had suggested it. So I did that. I have posted both the MBR.log and KAS log. The only thing I did not do is the download the OTL one because my computer reported that it was not safe. Something about it being a known virus or linked to viruses. So I did not think I should go and download it. Could you possibly inform me more about this? I have been trying to rid this computer from VUNDO & other junk since I bought it used about 3 weeks ago. I thought it was a clean computer because I trusted the person I bought it off of. Needless to say I will never buy I used computer again without first checking it out :( I know I took out the bulk of the viruses (like over 30) and my computer is running so much more smoothly but I can tell that it has something lurking around...lol
Thank you again for helping me. I really appreciate all your assistance. Fixing it myself is so much more time consuming but it saves me some cash :(

Hi Lorie35

the OTL one because my computer reported that it was not safe

That's the first time i have ever heard. :( OTL is a safe tool as we use it daily. You may proceed when you are ready. As far as those infected objects listed in the Kaspersky report, are you aware of CoxTC? If yes, i assume it's a false positive. Otherwise, you may delete the folder.

Click Start>Run and copy/paste the following bolded text into the Run box and click OK:

C:\Qoobox\ComboFix-quarantined-files.txt

A report should pop open for you. Please post the contents in your next reply.

In your next reply, please post back:

1.ComboFix-quarantined-files.txt
2.OTListIt.txt and Extra.txt Thanks.
