Are there open-source utilities out there that will take a divx or AVI file and upload it to an iPod touch?

From a quick google check it appears you need to convert at least the divx format to mp4 to be able to upload to an itouch.

The touch is not compatible with playing avi files, you have to convert to mp4 then send it to itunes to install on your touch.
