I'm using Windows Xp...SP3...IE8..
Theres this message that comes up when I try to save an image to my document folder.
It says the mshtml file cannot be found....
I'm saving it as a jpg,gif file.
This does not happen to very many that I save but enough that
I'm curious as to why this happens.
Is there a file that I need to download that I don't have?
I'd appreciate your help & thank you.
I'm not sure what other info you need so just ask & I'll try to get it for you.
I'm fairly new to this computer stuff so be patient with me.

Hi Alicerose,

Questions:
Are you trying to save an image from an email, or from a website?
If from an email, are you using Outlook Express?

Did you have this problem for a long time now, or did it work with your current version of Internet Explorer in the past? If it did work before, maybe re-installing it might be worth to try.

If it has never worked with hosted images:
To my knowledge there has been some issue with saving embedded images from emails with the newer Internet Explorer versions 7 and 8.
Since the images are hosted on file hosts as you say, I assume that we are talking about embedded images.

Now, could you check if you can right click on the image to see its properties, and figure out its URL on the image host, and go there directly?
Then try to see if you can save the image directly from the file host (e.g. Photobucket).

I haven't found any real solutions to this problem, but the 2 workarounds:
- Go to the source of the image (i.e. the image host) and download it from there.
- Right click and choose copy. Then open a new document in Paint, and select paste, then save. (This works only for non-animated images)

But maybe somebody else has a better idea

Have you tried the workaround? Are you able to save the image directly from the image host (Photobucket for example)?

I wish I had a better solution for you.

I'll try the work around you mentioned the next time I get that message.
Thanks.
