Hi there,

Had the nastiest virus/rootkit infection so I installed a new drive(needed to update anyway) C: on desktop computer. Had an external usb drive plugged in when desktop was originally infected. Scanned and cleaned the external, now when I plug in external drive to desktop it reads as pendrive, not what I had it named which was "White". Disk management shows its named "White" but cant right click and rename, it goes back to "pendrive".

How to fix? Did research on google, but nothing helped, still cant rename the external. Is my external still infected? Ive ran Kapersky, Spybot, Spyware Doctor and Malwarebytes, shows nothing.

Thanks in advance.

Moved from HijackThis Logs and Virus/Trojan/Spyware/Malware Removal. I think this topic will get a better response here in the Hardware forum jamalone

You don't have to use Disk Management to rename, that can be done from Explorer view on any partition.

Have you tried giving a new letter...then renaming it?

I don't have any clues as how to solve it, never had a problem renaming a partition.
