Hello SadComputerHead and welcome to the BC malware forum. After reviewing your log I see a few items that require our attention. Please print these directions and then proceed with the following steps in order.

Step #1

Download CCleaner and install it but do not run it yet.

Now we need to remove a service.

Open Notepad and Copy/Paste the contents of the quote box below into the new document:

Const title = "Service Removal Tool"

Set oWS = CreateObject("Wscript.Shell")
sService = inputbox("Removing Service:",title,"SvcProc")

If sService = "" then
msgbox "Script halted. No changes were made.", vbInformation, title
wscript.quit
End If

strComputer = "."
Set objWMIService = GetObject("winmgmts:{impersonationLevel=impersonate}!\\" & strComputer & "\root\cimv2")
Set colListOfServices = objWMIService.ExecQuery _
("Select * from Win32_Service Where Name = '" & sService & "' or displayName = '" & sService & "'")
If colListOfServices.count > 0 Then
For Each objService In colListOfServices
objService.StopService()
wscript.Sleep 10000
objService.ChangeStartMode("Disabled")
wscript.Sleep 2000
objService.Delete()
Msgbox "The " & sService & " service has been removed or marked for deletion.", vbInformation, title
Next
Else
Msgbox "The " & sService & " service was not found.", vbInformation, title
End If

Save the file to your desktop as remsvc.vbs and close Notepad. Locate the remsvc.vbs file on your desktop and double-click on it to run it. Click the Ok button and wait for a messge box saying the service has been removed or marked for deletion.

Step #2

Start in Safe Mode Using the F8 method:
  • Restart the computer.
  • As soon as the BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the boot menu appears.
  • Use the arrow keys to select the Safe Mode menu item.
  • Press the Enter key.
Step #3

Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer,SearchURL = http://searchmiracle.com/sp.php
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://search.msn.com

O20 - Winlogon Notify: App Management - C:\WINDOWS\system32\aZaamon.dll

Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair.

Step #4

We need to make sure all hidden files are showing so please:
  • Click Start.
  • Open My Computer.
  • Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
  • Select the View tab.
  • Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
  • Uncheck the Hide file extensions for known types option.
  • Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
  • Click Yes to confirm.
  • Click OK.
Find the following files/folders and delete them (don't worry if they are already gone):C:\WINDOWS\svcproc.exe
C:\WINDOWS\cfgmgr52.dll
C:\WINDOWS\etb\ <--folder
C:\WINDOWS\System32\hfpawqf.dll
C:\WINDOWS\System32\wshfctrs.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\Kfkecg.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\exp.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\wintask.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\ws2io.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\aZaamon.dll
C:\Program Files\uphl\ <--folder
C:\Program Files\v1ev5mtz\ <--folder
C:\Program Files\Aprps\ <--folder

Step #5

Start CCleaner and click on the Run Cleaner button in the lower right-hand corner. When it is finished close CCleaner.

Step #6

Reboot normally and run at least 2 of the following on-line virus scans:Bitdefender <<<Add a check by 'Autoclean'.
RAV <<<Add a check by 'Autoclean', leave everything else as is.
eTrust <<<'Cure' whatever is found, then delete if unsuccessful
Housecall <<<Put on 'Autoclean' and delete what it can't clean.
Panda ActiveScan <<<Accept default settings
If there are any files that cannot be automatically disinfected or quarantined then you will need to delete them manually.

Step #7

AdAware SE v1.06

Download, install, update, configure and run a scan with Ad-aware SE v1.06:
  • Download and Install AdAware SE Personal, keeping the default options. However, some of the settings will need to be changed before your first scan.
  • Close ALL windows except Ad-Aware SE.
  • Click on the‘world’ icon at the top right of the Ad-Aware SE window and let AdAware SE update the reference list for the adware and malware.
  • Once the update is finished click on the ‘Gear’ icon (second from the left at the top of the window) to access the preferences/settings window:
    • In the ‘General’ window make sure the following are selected in green:
      • Under Safety:

    • Under Alternate Data Streams:
      • Don't log streams smaller than 0 bytes
      • Don't log ADS with the following names: CA_INOCULATEIT
  • Click the ‘Tweak’ button and select in green:
    • Under ‘Scanning Engine’:
      • Unload recognized processes during scanning
      • Scan registry for all users instead of current user only
    • Under ‘Cleaning Engine’:
      • Let Windows remove files in use at next reboot
    • Under Log Files:
      • Include basic Ad-aware SE settings in logfile
      • Include additional Ad-aware SE settings in logfile
      • Please do not check: Include Module list in logfile
  • Click on ‘Proceed’ to save the settings.
  • Click ‘Start’
  • Choose 'Perform Full System Scan'
  • DESELECT "Search for negligible risk entries", as negligible risk entries (MRU's) are not considered to be a threat.
  • Click ‘Next’ and Ad-Aware SE will scan your hard drive(s) with the options you have selected and clean automatically.
  • If Ad-Aware SE finds bad entries, you will receive a list of what it found in the window
  • Right-click on the list and choose Select All
  • Click the Next button to finish removing the items that were found
  • When finished, REBOOT to complete the removal of what Ad-Aware SE found
Step #8

OK. Reboot your computer normally, start HijackThis and perform a new scan. Use the Add Reply button to post your new log file back here along with details of any problems you encountered performing the above steps and I will review it when it comes in.

that's my new log, i did everything you told me to...still having a couple pop ups but not as bad and i think adaware deleted some stuff out of norton b/c it kept saying i didn't have all the components so i re-installed it and it's fine now.

thanks again for the help, i'll be back to check for your reply

Hi SadComputerHead. I don't think it was AdAware that took care of Norton. Many of these infections target any anti-virus or firewall that they can find so that they can run free. There is a new entry for [KavSvc] which points to an infection named Qoologic. These can be troublesome infections and in many instances have another infection alongside them called L2M.

Let's run a different scanner and see if it will show us some additional information that is not included in the HijackThis log.

Download WinPFind.zip and unzip the contents to the C:\ folder.

Start in Safe Mode Using the F8 method:
  • Restart the computer.
  • As soon as the BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the boot menu appears.
  • Use the arrow keys to select the Safe Mode menu item.
  • Press the Enter key.
Locate the c:\winpfind\winpfind.exe file and double-click it to run it. Now click the Start Scan button to begin the scan.

When the scan is complete reboot normally and post the WinPFind.txt file (located in the WinPFind folder) back here so I can review it.

OT
I do not respond to PM's requesting help. That's what the forums are here for. Please use them so that others may benefit from your questions and the responses you receive.

My WinPFind.Txt

WARNING: not all files found by this scanner are bad. Consult with a knowledgable person before proceeding.

If you see a message in the titlebar saying "Not responding..." you can ignore it. Windows somethimes displays this message due to the high volume of disk I/O. As long as the hard disk light is flashing, the program is still working properly.

Hi SadComputerHead. That clears things up a little. It appears that there are 2 infections here. One called L2M and one called Qoologic. Let's remove the L2M first.

Print these directions or copy/paste them into a Notepad document and save it to your desktop. Close any programs you have open since this step requires a reboot.
  • Download l2mfix.exe and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click l2mfix.exe to start the installation.
  • Click the Install button to extract the files and follow the prompts.
  • Open the newly added l2mfix folder on your desktop.
  • Double click l2mfix.bat and select option #2 for Run Fix by typing 2 and then pressing the Enter key.
  • Press any key to reboot your computer.
After a reboot, your desktop and icons will appear, then disappear (this is normal). L2mfix will continue to scan your computer and when it's finished, Notepad will open with a log. Copy the contents of that log and paste it back into this thread, along with a new hijackthis log.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT run any other files in the l2mfix folder until you are asked to do so!

Post the new L2m logs back here along with a new WinPFind log and I will review the information when it comes in.

OT

Hi SadComputerHead. Ok, let's see if we can't clean up the rest of this. Please print these directions and then proceed with the following steps in order.

Download the Pocket Killbox and unzip the contents of KillBox.zip to your desktop.
  • Open Notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into the new document

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\fmtxysgq]
[-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{1a760c53-b864-48d9-b678-87fa1ef9201a}]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{1a760c53-b864-48d9-b678-87fa1ef9201a}]

  • Save the document to your desktop as fixreg.reg and close Notepad.
  • Locate the fixreg.reg file on your desktop and right-click on it
  • Choose Merge from the popup menu and answer Yes or Ok to any further prompts. You should get a message that the file was merged successfully.
  • Double-click on KillBox.exe to launch the program.
  • Highlight the files in bold below and press the Ctrl key and the C key at the same time to copy them to the clipboard
    • C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\8cki6bcb.ini
      C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\datadx.dll
      C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\Pdydsck1.xml
      C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\r3cvetct.ini
      C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\tca0s3bb.ini
      C:\WINDOWS\Tasks\RUTASK.job
      C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Sskcwrd.dll
      C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Sskknwrd.dll
      C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Application Data\Sskuknwrd.dll
      C:\WINDOWS\System32\uiqsk.dll
      C:\WINDOWS\System32\wshfctrs.exe
      C:\WINDOWS\wshfctrs.exe
      C:\WINDOWS\System32\ws2io.exe
      C:\WINDOWS\System32\rhnpal.exe
      C:\WINDOWS\system32\aZaamon.dll
  • In Killbox click on the File menu and then the Paste from Clipboard item
  • In the Full Path of File to Delete field drop down the arrow and make sure that all of the files are listed
  • Click the option to Delete on Reboot
  • If not greyed out click the checkbox for Unregister .dll Before Deleting
  • If not greyed out click the checkbox for Deltree (Include SubDirectories)
  • Now click on the red button with a white 'X' in the middle to delete the files
  • Click Yes when it says all files will be deleted on the next reboot
  • Click Yes when it asks if you want to reboot now
  • If you get a "PendingFileRenameOperations Registry Data has been Removed by External Process!" message then just reboot manually
  • After the system reboots, start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [s7nU3EQ] wshfctrs.exe
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KavSvc] C:\WINDOWS\System32\rhnpal.exe reg_run
    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [dw48ROcFP] ws2io.exe
    O20 - Winlogon Notify: Installer - C:\WINDOWS\system32\aZaamon.dll
  • Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair.
  • Reboot and post a new HijackThis log along with a new WinPFind log
I will review the new information when it comes in.

C:\WINDOWS\System32\wshfctrs.exe

Hi SadComputerHead. that's Ok. Killbox pre-checks the files to see if they are actually on the hard drive or not (they might already be gone but the entries for them are still in the registry). If the files are not on the hard drive then Killbox will remove them from the list.

Cheers.

Hi SadComputerHead. That is certainly the best log we have gotten so far. the WinPFind log is clean. There are still a couple of items showing in the HijackThis log and I think there is still a file we are not seeing. Let's do this.

Download and install the trial version of ewido security suite and do an update.

Start ewido and do the following:
  • Click on the Scanner button.
  • Click on the Complete System Scan.
  • If anything is found you will be prompted to clean the first infected file found. Choose Clean and put a checkmark in the checkbox for Perform action on all infections and click the Ok button to continue the scan.
  • When the scan is complete close ewido and reboot the computer normally.
Post the ewido log and a new HijackThis log back here.

Cheers.
