Firefox 3.5.4 - managed search engines will not respond

my search engines on my firefox toolbar won't work- not even google or yahoo!!! could firefox updates be responsible?

I updated to the latest version the other day and my google search works fine, can't say about Yahoo as I don't use it.java script:add_smilie(":thumbsup:","smid_104")
