I was infected with Antivirus Pro 2010 two days ago. My operating system became very slow and a bunch of fake warnings kept popping up one after another telling me I was infected. I shutdown and booted in Safemode with networking. I ran malwarebytes, combofix, and sdfix. This helped somewhat as I was able to get back on with no popups but I am still left with its remnants. Right now I am in Safemode with networking.
I can no longer run malwarebytes (I get the message failed to load control vbalgrid.ocx).
I can no longer copy/paste.
When trying to run antispyware/malware programs I get the message: "system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation", even though I am logged on as Administrator.
I cannot access User Accounts. The folder is blank and I can only see Back/Forward/Home at the top.
Internet explorer opens but shuts down after a second(I use mozilla).
And I would just reinstall the OS but this is not my actual computer and I don't have the drivers to be able to get it on the internet. My cousin had to deal with dell directly to be able to get it to be able to connect to the internet. That and the disc tray doesn't open. If anyone wants to take a stab at it that would be great. I take excellent instruction and I will be here all day
