Dear All,

many thanks for any help you can provide
I have had security tool (it may still be on my PC) and backdoor.bot and one of my startup icons gives a message saying "Windows has blocked some startup programs" which has never happened before (on reading I wonder if one my new anti-spyware programs such as avast or malwarebytes or spyware doctor has blocked these)

I have run malwarebytes and deleted backdoor.bot several times but it seems to reappear.

I now have a full version of spyware doctor - not run it yet, previously I had the scan-only version and it found "security tool" - will that help ?
I'm also getting messages to install service pack 2 but I've heard that may not be a good idea while I have malware

I'm sorry I don't have a RootRepeal report attached but it erroed with "Could not read Index block" - I'll try again later ?

sorry can I hold fire on this problem before I waste anyone's time.

anyway I have a bigger problem now - I installed spyware doctor to try and remove security tool - mayeb daft before getting help

I then turned off my PC and turned it on later fine.
So probably its unconnected to SD but now my PC *won't turn on* - at least it sounds like its on but the monitor is blank saying it gets no signal - its a Hannspree monitor that communicates with the PC during bootup - I wonder if the malware has corrupted a monitor driver or whether with all the recent rough treatment some components has just failed.

I think it might be beyond me now even with the help of you kind experts - I might try and take it to a PC repair shop this w/e if by some miracle it doesn't spark into like. I have had the PC 2 years so its not v old or new - maybe I cang et a Windows 7 PC next time

dear net surfer,

thank you for your post
my problem is resolved

sis I mention my monitor didn't switch on ?
I got a local IT guy to look at it
he said there was no hardware issue
the malware was blocking my monitor and he reinstalled windows (I'd heard others say maybe that was best for those bad malwares) and backed up my data.
