I'm working on repairing a computer it is an 05 toshiba that runs windows xp. I've been told the computer was scanned with spybot and came up with some ugly nasty stuff. Smitfraud-c, smitfraud-c generic, contra virus, virus protect pro, to name a few. This is not the problem I need help solving. The real problem is it won't boot. The msconfig for safemode is checked. So there is not F8 into normal mode. There is no disk for the computer. The computer gives a blue screen and locks from there. Tried going into other modes Debug, Last known good, etc. The computer would apparentlly start in normal mode. Any hope to save this thing?

Scroll down to where is says:

"Problems that can occur by forcing Safe Mode using the System Configuration Utility"
The power of accurate observation is commonly called cynicism by those who haven't got it.
