Hello. Due to a rootkit virus, I recently reformatted my hard drive and re-installed Windows. I have a windows XP professional CD version 2002 which includes SP1. My first task after installing was to register which I did without poblems and then go to the windows update site to get the latest updates. I could get to the site but could not get any updates. Seeing somewhere that they don't support SP1 anymore, I downloaded SP2 from another machine and installed it. I now can't get onto the update site at all. Before you ask, I can access other websites so I am connected. I have now installed SP3 the same way as with SP2 (from the download centre using another PC) I am fairly sure the problem started when I went to SP2. Can anyone help? I have tried lots of different things to do with IE but I really think that it is some sort of problem with my XP installation.
