i have a great dell dimension 8200 but the USB ports are only 1.0...

i THINK they might be part of my problem transferring data from the hard drive to my passport portable drive. i know thats why its so slow to do so...

can the USB ports be replaced with 2.0s? do they have any physical limitations that would preclude me attaching to an 'old' motherboard? im running XPpro so im certain the OS can handle them...

im only asking because im having a hard time getting rid of my desktop and going strictly laptop but the d.t. is old and i could get rid of the huge desk and (on and on and on...)

USB 2.0 ports...on a desktop...can be easily added...provided there is an open/available PCI slot.

Example: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...6-014-_-Product.
